2021-06-23,the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the memo letter, with this letter, EPA is releasing the Final Version 3.0 ENERGY STAR Water Cooler Product Specification.
• From June 23, 2021, manufacturers may elect to have their Certification Body (CB) certify their eligible products to the Version 3.0 requirements.
• From October 13, 2021, CBs will be instructed to stop certifying new product submittals to Version 2.0. Note that existing certifications will remain valid for purposes of ENERGY STAR certification until March 23, 2022.
• From March 23, 2022, the Water Cooler products under new contracts as ENERGY STAR should be certified to the Version 3.0 specification
Compared with V2.0, Water Cooler Version 3.0 includes the following main updates:
The scope of Water Cooler is updated: products that have dispensing functions such as sparkling, alkaline, or flavored water, in addition to cold and hot water will also be included in the scope of Water Cooler.
Update 1: Water Cooler V2.0 classifies the water cooler as the following three types according to the function:
1. Cold Only Units: Units that dispense cold water only;
2. Cook and Cold Units: Units that dispense both cold and room-temperature water;
3. Hot and Cold Units: Units that dispense both hot and cold water
And the Final Version 3.0 adds the fourth type:
4. Hot, Cook, and Cold Units: Units that dispense hot, cold, and room-temperature water。
Update 2: Add the definitions of High Capacity Water Cooler and Low Capacity Water Cooler,
High Capacity Water Cooler: A water cooler with a cold-water dispenser capacity that is greater than 0.50 gallons per hour, for units that also provide hot water, the unit must have a hot-water dispenser capacity greater than 41 exact 6 oz. cups per hour.
Low Capacity Water Cooler: A water cooler with a cold-water dispenser capacity of 0.50 gallons per hour or less, for units that also provide hot water, the unit must have a hot-water dispenser capacity that is equal to or less than 41 exact 6 oz. cups per hour。
Update 3:The limits of Energy Efficiency Requirements for Water Cooler are updated: the limits of the water coolers with hot function and storage function are updated from 0.87 to 0.68 (for low-capacity) / 0.80 (for high-capacity), detail information as below:

Update 4:add the test method of the OMP, Cold-Water Dispenser capacity and Hot-Water Dispenser capacity, see the following table:
