On June 2, 2021, the Official Journal of the European Union officially published Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2021/884, extending validity of item 42 of the RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) Appendix IV to June 30, 2026 . This amendment will take effect on the 20th day after its issuance.

The European Union RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC) is the European Union's electrical and electronic equipment to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances, the full name is "DIRECTIVE 2002/95/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 January 2003 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment", which took effect on February 13, 2003, and took effect on July 1, 2006; on July 1, 2011, the European Union announced a new version of the RoHS directive (2011/65/EU, RoHS2 .0), and came into effect on July 21, 2011, replacing the previous 2002/95/EC.
