Spain’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation (Ministerio de AsuntosEconomicos y Transformacion Digital) has announced it will auction the 700 MHz on 21 July for the deployment of 5G networks. Potential bidders were asked to register their interest before 2 July. In terms of coverage obligations, the government has specified that around 450 locations must receive coverage before the end of June 2025. 30% of these must be covered by the end of 2022 and 70% by July 2024. In addition, before the end of 2022 the country’s ten main airports, three main ports, six main railway stations and eight main highways must also see 700MHz rollouts.
