On 31 May 2021, the European Commission has published Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/867 in the Official Journal of the European Union, to update the references to the harmonised standards under the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC.

The list of updated harmonised standards is as below:

With immediate effect (from 31 May 2021), the new version of the following standards is listed as the harmonised standards under the Toy Directive. The following standards will be withdrawn from the specified date and will no longer be used as harmonised standards.

In addition, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) published EN 71-2:2020 Safety of toys – part 2: Flammability on December 9, 2020. But it has not been included in the list of harmonized standards this time. This European standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2021, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by December 2021. At present, the customs of some EU member countries have requested to provide the EN 71-2:2020 test report for toy products. BACL recommends that you perform EN 71-2:2011+A1:2014 and EN 71-2:2020 related tests at the same time in the current special stage for smooth customs clearance.
