Peru MTC Updated National Frequency Allocation Plan
Publisher:Admin  Source:  Date:2021/5/12

On May 3rd 2021, Peru’s Ministry of Transport and Communication (MTC) amended its national frequency allocation plan through Ministerial Resolution No. 373-2021-MTC/01 and Vice-Ministerial Resolution No. 162-2021-MTC/03, in order to improve broadband connectivity in the country.

The main points are as follow:

1) The 470-698 MHz frequency band has been allocated for the use of television frequency blanks (TVWS) to provide Internet in rural areas.

2) 1200 MHz spectrum was enabled in the 26 GHz band for advanced mobile telecommunications to be included in the new radio spectrum competition for 5G.

3) 1200 MHz was identified for the use of the WiFi-6E band, which expands the range of frequencies available for WiFi to be used indoors, allowing a higher density of connected equipment.
