Labelling Requirements for Textile Products in Brazil

On April 1,2021, The National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO) released INMETRO ordinance 118 which consolidated regulation for the labelling of textile products in Brazil. This regulation establishes mandatory requirements regarding the conformity of information of supplier, country of origin, composition, dimensions and treatments for the preservation of the textile product.


Below information have to be included (in Portuguese) using label or stamp:

1. Name or registered trademark and tax identification of national manufacturer or local importer;

2. Country of origin;

3. Name of textile fibers or filaments and their content expressed as a percentage by mass;

4. Care treatment for product preservation;

5. Size or dimension.


This requirement has come into force on April 1, 2021. However, government gives a grace period for national manufacturers and importers until July 10, 2021.
