UKCA Energy Certification：

The UK Government is committed to continuing to support consumers save energy through the purchase of efficient products. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy consulted with stakeholders to decide whether to continue with energy labelling following Brexit. It was agreed that the Energy Label is still a widely used and highly valuable tool to UK consumers, as the need for the public to have a clearer understanding of how energy efficient their chosen products are hasn’t changed.

New innovations in technology have led to products being much more efficient than they were 5-10 years ago. This means that they can no longer be measured on the same scale. The Energy Label scale has therefore been reset to more clearly show the difference in efficiency between today’s products

UKCA the following five product groupsbeing introduced from March 1st 2021 and September 1st for lighting products：

In 2021, new labels will be implemented in physical stores and online shops for the following five product groups:

1. Household refrigerators and freezers

2. Washing machines and wash-dryers

3. Dishwashers

4. TVs and electronic displays

5. Light sources

The new and old standards for energy efficiency certification of lighting sources are detailed below：

The current standard: The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 of 8th March 2019

New standard：The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020（Draft）

Great Britain`s adoption of the rescaled energy label (EU) 2019/2015 for lighting products from 1 September 2021 is currently subject to a UK Government public consultation.
