On 25 January 2021, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has enacted new Type Approval regulations.

The key changes are:

1. Changes to the exempt devices list:

Given these changes, all WiFi, Bluetooth and RFID equipment will now require Pakistan Type Approval.

2. Ultra Wide Band (UWB) devices require Type Approval in Pakistan now. 

3. IEC62368 safety standards are now included in the list of acceptable testing standards.

4. Effective Date: January 25, 2021.
