On January 5, 2021, SDPPI released a Circular PERMEN ESDM No 2 Tahun 2021 that requires crystalline silicon photovoltaic module to be certified by SNI.

The details are as follows:

1. Scope : all crystalline silicon photovoltaic module.

2. Content: All crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules that are sold in Indonesia with HS code 8541.40.22 have to fulfill SNI requirements.

3.  Standard:

• 3.1. SNI IEC 61215-1: 2016

• 3.2. SNI IEC 61215-2: 2016

• 3.3. SNI IEC 61215-1-1: 2016

4. Effective Date :January 7, 2021

5. Grace Period : January 5, 2021 – January 6, 2022

• Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Modules Products which have been utilized by users before this regulation comes into force, have no obligation to comply with this regulation.

• Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Modules Products that circulate in market and already have IEC 61215 certificate before 7 January 2021, must be re-certified in accordance with the provisions in this regulation no later than 7 January 2022.

• Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Modules Products circulate after 7 January 2021, shall fulfil to SNI's requirements in this Regulation no later than 7 January 2022.
