On December 15, 2020, the EU RoHS exemption Pack 22 evaluation project was launched. This evaluation covers nine items such as 6(a), 6(a)-I, 6(b), 6(b)-I, 6 (b)-II, 6(c), 7(a), 7(c)-I and 7(c)-II in RoHS Annex III, involving lead in alloys, lead in high-temperature molten solder, and lead in electronic components glass ceramics is widely used in the industry and has a huge impact. The evaluation period is 10 months.

The online public consultation for this evaluation activity has been opened on December 23, 2020, and will last for 10 weeks to March 3, 2021.

These exemptions will continue to be effective until the assessment results are announced. If the exemption  is revoked after the assessment, a transition period of 12 to 18 months will be set for the industry to replace materials.

The European Union RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) has been restricting the prohibition of specific hazardous chemical substances for all electronic and electrical products exported to Europe for many years. In 2015, the revised directive ((EU) 2015/ 863) in order to call for the increase in the number of hazardous substances controlled, increases another four new controls-phthalates ( DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP) from the original six restricted substances (Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr+6, PBB, PBDE) , and will start to officially implement market control and spot checks after July 22, 2019.
