On 5 December 2019, the European Commission formally promulgated the 2019/2020 ecodesign regulation for Light Sources and separate control gears, which will come into force on the 20th day after its publication in the OFFICIAL Gazette of the EU and become mandatory from 1 September 2021.

On 24 February 2020, the European Commission issued a corrigendum correcting three typesetting errors, stating that users must pay attention to avoid unnecessary losses to their customers due to incorrect performance assessments based on the above regulations.
