A new Edition of AS/NZS 60598.1:2017 for Australia luminaires was published

AS/NZS 60598.1:2017 (MOD IEC 60598-1:2014) was published on 24 April 2017, it supersedes the previous edition on 24 April 2019. During this period, compliance with either AS/NZS 60598.1:2017 or 60598.1:2013 is approved;

 

The new edition AS/NZS 60598.1 was updated based on IEC60598-1:2014. Here below are the main changes:  

  1. ※ Requirements for luminaires incorporating transformers now in Part 1;

     

  2. ※ Revised labeling for luminaires incorporating non-replaceable light sources

     

  3. ※ Item 4.24: Consideration of photobiological (blue light) hazards now form part of the standard;

     

  4. ※ Item 0.5.101: Requirements for electric capacity for luminaires ;

     

  5. ※ Item 0.5.102: Requirements for batteries chargers of all luminaires, accept Emergency luminaires, shall comply with AS/NZS 60335.2.29;

     

  6. ※ Item 3.2.3: Ta rating required for all luminaires;

     

  7. ※ Item 3.3.102: Requirements for button cell batteries or R1 batteries of luminaires remote control shall comply with AS/NZS 60335.2.29;

     

  8. ※ Item4.7.2: Revised 8mm free conductor testing conformity assessment for located or shielded supply terminals;

     

  9. ※ Item 4.8: Define Electronic switches with ON/OFF label, when incorporated in or supplied with the luminaire, shall comply with the requirements of AS/NZS 60669.1. Define switch minimum operation life shall comply with 10E3;

     

  10. ※ Item 4.32: Revised MOV Lightning protection circuit of the luminaire shall comply with the MOV requirement for the electrical accessories of AS/NZS 3100;

     

  11. ※ Item 4.101.1: Requirements for construction of luminaires remote control which contains button cell batteries or R1 batteries;

     

  12. ※ Item 8.2.1: Revised Protection against electric shock shall consider user cleaning or maintenance;

     

  13. ※Item13.3 Revised Resistance to flame and ignition requirements which cited the requirements of household appliances safety standards;
