On Wednesday (17/5), the NationalTelecommunications Agency (ANATEL) determined, by official letter, immediatelywithdrawal the irregular products identified in the online platform MercadoLivre. The Agency received on by Mercado Livre is the first case to be identifiedas so-called microcells commercialization. If the company does not comply withthe determination, it can be punished by the regulatory body.

The technical department of ANATEL informs that it has not any registeredrequests for the certification or homologation for microcells. The homologationof the product guarantees the user the quality and safety of the device and isnecessary for the commercialization of product in the country. Productsidentified in the action have presented false or irregular type-approval seals.

ANATEL on a frequent basis, verifies online trading portals in search ofunapproved devices and sends instructions for the withdrawal of the disclosure.The action that involved the microcells was under the responsibility of themanagement of São Paulo, because the headquarters of Mercado Livre is in thestate.

ANATEL Superintendent of Supervision, Juliano Stanzani, stated that"if other complaints or information about problems arise, ANATEL will actin any Brazilian state where the problem originates." The action of ANATELwas motivated by reports published in print and online journalism.
